9 Delicious Recipes for Christmas Cookies and Candy You'll Love (2024)

One of my favorite memories from Christmas in the ’80s was going to my Grandma’s house to get our Christmas cookies.

My Grandma…she turned baking cookies into an experience.

Every December, she would spend days in the kitchen, whipping up recipe after recipe.

When her freezer was finally stuffed to the brim with all of her creations, it was finally time.

We’d show up to get our heaping plate of cookies. The plastic wrap could barely contain all of them…and dropping one was almost sinful.

At home, each kid would fight to get their favorites first. There were a few of each type of candy and cookie, and we knew we had to act quickly to get what we wanted.

And because of that tradition, Christmas just doesn’t feel the same until our home has a collection of Christmas cookies and candies of all sorts of flavors, shapes, and sizes.

You deserve to have those warm memories in your own home.

So be sure to whip up a batch of each of the recipes in this collection.

Sweet Christmas Cookie Recipes

One of these recipes will be perfect for that cookie exchange you’re hosting (or heading to)!

Peanut Butter Cookies

This might be a strange way to start a roundup of Christmas cookies and candies, but we’re still going to start with peanut butter cookies.

It’s usually the first recipe I make at Christmas time.

The fact that I have all of these ingredients in the house pretty much all the time helps. 😉

BUT, I also remember that as a little girl, my favorite thing was rolling the peanut butter cookie balls in green or red sugar before smooshing them into the cookie sheet with a fork.

They are always yummy, and they look pretty if you use a little green or red dye in the sugar.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

For our family, chocolate covered pretzels mean Christmas time is here. The combination is amazing.

If you have not made them before, you’ll be surprised at how simple they are to make. Especially if you use the method this smart blogger uses!

Candy Cane Cookies

My hubby’s favorite Christmas cookie is candy cane cookies. They always turn out so cute!

While I’ll never complain about too much chocolate, the peppermint flavor is a nice change.

Buckeyes

Maybe it’s just because we live in Ohio, but you really can’t celebrate the Christmas season without biting into a soft, delicious Buckeye.

These are so good that even a Michigan fan would love them! 😉

Peppermint Bark

Last year I found a recipe for Peppermint Bark. It was so good that I had to hide it from myself so I wouldn’t eat the whole bag!

This is especially noteworthy because I do NOT like to mix mint and chocolate. I know, I’m strange like that.

But the white chocolate mixed with the festive candy canes is hard to resist. It’s delicious and easy to make.

Double Chocolate Toffee Cookies

A friend shared a recipe for these cookies a few years ago, and we’ve been hooked on them ever since. Double chocolate? Always!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Clearly, I’m a sucker for chocolate, so anything with chocolate in the title is an automatic yes.

These cookies look like snow has fallen on them. Every time I make them, I get so excited about how cute they turn out that I have to call someone in the kitchen to brag about my creation.

Pumpkin Cookies

We discovered these Pumpkin Cookies a few years ago.

Warning….they do not look pretty. I have had to convince people to actually eat them.

But once they took one bite, they wanted to eat the entire batch!

Buttery Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Something about thumbprint cookies in particular remind me of Grandma.

Maybe it’s because she put her fingerprint on each cookie (literally). Or because she’s the only person I ever knew that made them?

I don’t know, but it isn’t Christmas without them.

Pecan Pie Cookies

Yum, what a cookie!

I love the idea of being able to use up some leftover pecan pie filling in these cookies.

Could be perfect for just after Thanksgiving…or for the Christmas party you made a pie for.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are amazingggggg xD I will often have dreams of baking and sharing and doing all of that…until it gets closer to when I would actually need to do it and realize that I just don’t have the energy for that, ha. I would love to stand about in the kitchen all day, stirring and bending to the oven and spatulaing and all that stuff, but my body, once it hears such words, says “nope, not gonna happen, lady” and then I’m left cookie-less xD I am hoping that I will end up making some to take to family Christmas, but I’m not counting on it, ha.
