Just discovered this morning, the fence has been taken down and all those picnic tables can be used without having to go through a gate. L. V.WesTen District·4 days agoPlease be aware. This was near NW 11th St and Vermont. Today a neighborhood kid came over to play with my kids. While I was getting ready to take the dogs for a walk, he said there was an unhoused woman following and him bugging him for a dollar. He said he told her he didn’t have any money but she persisted. I went outside with the dogs and she was standing in the street but close to my yard. I told her to leave him alone or I would call the police. She wandered around a little, then walked off south on Vermont. I told the neighborhood kid to go inside while I walked the dogs. When I came back, I asked a neighbor if she had been back and he said she was over by the large gray business building that’s up for lease. He also said the police were with her. I walked over to speak to the officers and they said they had received a lot of calls about her. They also said she was mentally ill but didn’t meet their criteria for being able to take her in.
